In the parable of the sower recorded by Matthew (13:3) [ESV]

A sower went out to sow. And as he sowed, some seeds fell along the path, and the birds came and devoured them. Other seeds fell on rocky ground, where they did not have much soil, and immediately they sprang up, since they had no depth of soil, but when the sun rose they were scorched. And since they had no root, they withered away. Other seeds fell among thorns, and the thorns grew up and choked them. Other seeds fell on good soil and produced grain, some a hundredfold, some sixty, some thirty. He who has ears, let him hear.”

Take a look at a field that's been planted with wheat, even one that has been ploughed by oxen, the area of fertile vs un-fertile is huge, but if the farmer is inefficient, the field is ineffecient and less productive.

By praying we break down the soil making it ready to receive the seed, and reduce the areas where the seed is ineffective.

Prayer opens the pathway between us and our Father. That process makes us more like him, and increases the chances that we hear him and are able to obey. In turn we become sowers

Dear Father in heaven, I'm coming to you today to help me communicate with you about the people I find about me, to bring their issues to you so that they experience you.
